Introduction
Gelibolu Vocational School Travel-Tourism and Entertainment Services Department Tourism and Travel Services Program provides education at the associate degree level. Tourism and Travel Services Program, with the aim of educating qualified professionals who have the professional competence required by the tourism and travel industry, equipped with universal thoughts and values, the structure and functioning of the travel sector that constitutes the tourism distribution system, travel agency and tour operator, tour planning. and management, transportation in tourism and agency automation.
Aim
The purpose of the Tourism and Travel services department is to meet the need for intermediate staff needed in the tourism sector and in the travel sector specific. The methods and techniques, legal regulations, professional standards and basic computer software and hardware with the required level of foreign language knowledge about the tourism and travel services program To train responsible intermediate staff who have the ability to use the physical environment, equipment and technologies related to the tourism sector, who can organize operations, reservations and ticketing processes that can meet the needs of the tourism sector.
Title of the Graduates of the Program
Graduates of the program will have a two-year associate degree and will receive the title of "tourism professional staff".
Study Areas of Graduates of the Program
Graduates who successfully complete the Tourism and Travel Services Associate Degree Program will be able to work in the tour design and operation, tour sales and ticketing departments of travel agencies and tour operators, provided that they obtain the required documents. These professionals; public and private sector, travel and hotel services, agency, fair organization etc. They can work in different positions such as organization, front office, sales and marketing services.
Internship
In accordance with the provisions of the ÇOMU Associate and Undergraduate Education-Training and Examination Regulations and the Regulation on the Principles and Procedures for the Education, Practice and Internship of Vocational School Students in METEB, published in the Official Gazette dated 22/05/2002 and numbered 24762, by the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education. In order for them to be entitled to receive an internship, it is obligatory to do an internship for 30 working days in official-private sector organizations related to their programs and at workplaces in similar organizations abroad. Students are obliged to do their internship at the internship places approved by the Vocational School Internship and Education Application Commission, in accordance with the internship directive and program. Continuing education students complete their internship in II. They can do it starting from the end of the semester.
Graduation Requirements
Students who take 120 ECTS credits in the Tourism and Travel Services Associate Degree Program, complete all courses successfully, have a GPA of at least 2.00 and fulfill other obligations can graduate. Students with missing credits below these credits cannot graduate. Students who fulfill the graduation requirements in the Tourism and Travel Services Associate Degree Program receive the "Tourism and Travel Services Associate Degree Program Degree".
Horizontal and Vertical Transfer Opportunities
Students who have graduated from the Tourism and Travel Services Associate Degree Program must take the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) administered by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) in order to continue their undergraduate education from the 5th semester of formal education or open education undergraduate programs. Students who take this exam and get sufficient points can transfer to the following undergraduate programs.
